Cinnamon Maple Walnut Sticky Buns

Deliciously soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls topped with a warm maple syrup mixture and crunchy walnuts.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt until well mixed.
  2. Warm the Milk & Butter: Heat the milk and butter until warm, then add to the dry ingredients along with egg and vanilla extract.
  3. Knead the Dough: Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Let It Rise: Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about one hour.
  5. Roll Out the Dough: Roll the risen dough into a rectangle, then spread with softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts.
  6. Roll & Slice: Roll tightly into a log and slice into 1-inch thick buns.
  7. Second Rise: Let the sliced buns rise until puffy, about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the Buns: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Create the Maple Syrup Topping: Heat remaining maple syrup and walnuts in a saucepan until bubbly.
  10. Pour & Serve: Drizzle the warm syrup over the buns and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These buns can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
