A rich and creamy French toast with a caramelized crust that transforms breakfast into an extraordinary event.

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices of brioche or challah bread
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar for topping
  • Optional: fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk together your eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until combined.
  2. Arrange slices of brioche or challah in a baking dish and pour the egg mixture over them.
  3. Cover the dish and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Bake the French toast for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar over the top 5 minutes before it’s done baking to caramelize.
  7. Serve warm, topped with fresh berries if desired.

Notes

Ensure the bread is stale or slightly dried out for optimal soaking. Refrigeration enhances flavor.
