Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 1/2 – 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 packets Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Yeast (about 4 1/2 tsp)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 4 oz cream cheese, room temp
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix warm water and melted butter, then add the egg, whisking to combine. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until combined.
  2. Knead the Dough: Add in the remaining flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Let it Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Roll & Fill: Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the room temperature butter evenly over the surface. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly over the butter.
  5. Roll Up: Starting from one end, tightly roll the dough into a log, pinching the seams to seal. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover lightly with plastic wrap or a towel, and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Make the Cream Cheese Icing: While the rolls are baking, combine room temperature cream cheese, unsalted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  9. Drizzle and Serve: Once the rolls are baked, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before drizzling with the cream cheese icing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For richer taste, let cream cheese come to room temperature before mixing. Check yeast expiration for best results.
