Deliciously fluffy beignet squares drizzled with a creamy glaze, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar for glaze
  • 2 tablespoons milk for glaze
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Instructions

  1. Whisk Dry Ingredients
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients
  3. Fold Dry with Wet
  4. Chill the Dough
  5. Heat the Oil
  6. Roll Out the Dough
  7. Cut and Fry
  8. Drain Excess Oil
  9. Prepare the Glaze
  10. Glazing the Beignets
  11. Serve and Enjoy!

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid oily beignets. They can also be baked if preferred.
