Delicious homemade cherry puff turnovers with a flaky pastry and sweet cherry filling.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup cherries, pitted and halved (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Mix the cherries with sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 4 squares.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cherry filling in the center of each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to form triangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the turnovers.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These turnovers are great served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
