  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel bits
  • Sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Prepare the dry ingredients by whisking together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and caramel bits.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them out.
  8. Sprinkle sea salt on top of each cookie before baking.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers are soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure butter is softened but not melted. Consider chilling the dough if your kitchen is warm.
