  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Frost with your favorite frosting and serve.
