Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for apples)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Caramel sauce (for drizzling, optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Incorporate the cold butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add the milk and mix until just combined.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface.
  6. Cut into rounds and place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Prepare the apples by mixing diced apples, cinnamon, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla in another bowl.
  8. Form sandwiches by placing a spoonful of apple mixture on half of the biscuit rounds and topping with another round.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with caramel sauce and top with whipped cream if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Chill the butter for the best texture and avoid overmixing for tender biscuits.
