Juicy marinated chicken wrapped in warm pita with tzatziki and fresh veggies, delivering a taste of Greece in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cucumber, grated and squeezed
  • Fresh dill, chopped
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Red onions, sliced
  • Lettuce
  • Feta cheese, crumbled

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken strips and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  2. Prepare the tzatziki sauce: In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, fresh dill, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Season with salt and stir to combine. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. Cook the chicken: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add marinated chicken strips in batches, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Warm the pita breads in a separate pan or microwave until soft and easy to roll.
  5. Assemble the gyros: Spread tzatziki sauce on each warm pita, top with cooked chicken, and desired toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

For deeper flavors, marinate chicken longer. Cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
