  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (adjust as needed for frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the mashed bananas and sugar in a large bowl, letting their flavors meld together.
  3. Mix in the melted butter, then add the eggs and vanilla extract, ensuring everything is well mixed.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. If desired, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Prepare the brown butter frosting by melting the butter over medium heat until golden brown with a nutty aroma.
  8. Whisk in the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  9. Frost the brownies once cooled, making sure to cover them all.
  10. Cut into squares and serve!
