  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in another bowl, then gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn onto wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Heat the cream in a saucepan, pour it over the chocolate chips in a bowl, and stir until smooth to make the filling.
  8. Slice the cooled cakes in half horizontally, spread chocolate filling on top of one layer, and place another layer on top.
