A heartwarming dish of tender chicken marinated in a rich bourbon sauce, balanced with sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb chicken thighs, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper in a bowl. Add the chicken thighs, ensuring they’re well coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken, leaving behind excess marinade, and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Pour the remaining marinade into the pan and bring it to a gentle simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir into the simmering sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, serve the Bourbon Chicken hot, and garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

For the best flavor, marinate for a couple of hours if possible. You can use whiskey as a substitute for bourbon.
