  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can (14 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing with yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, and spices. Cover and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
  2. Sauté the onion in butter over medium heat until translucent.
  3. Cook the marinated chicken in the skillet until golden brown.
  4. Add the tomato puree and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  5. Stir in cream and season with salt, simmering for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken with paneer or chickpeas. Adjust chili powder to manage heat levels.
