Delicious carne asada tacos featuring marinated flank steak, fresh toppings, and a zesty lime kick, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Flank or Skirt Steak
  • 2 limes (juiced)
  • 1 orange (juiced)
  • 4 minced garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • 8 corn tortillas (or flour tortillas)
  • Fresh cilantro (for topping)
  • Diced onions (for topping)
  • 1 avocado (for topping)
  • Jalapeños (optional, for topping)
  • Sour cream (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the flank or skirt steak: In a bowl, combine the juice of 2 limes, 1 orange, 4 minced garlic cloves, and 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro. Add salt and pepper to taste. Place your steak in the marinade and let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. Preheat your grill to high heat.
  3. Grill the steak: Place the steak on the hot grill and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
  4. Rest the steak: Remove from the grill and let it rest for about 10 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
  5. Slice the rested steak against the grain into thin strips.
  6. Warm the tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
  7. Assemble the tacos: Place slices of carne asada in each tortilla and top with diced onions, fresh cilantro, avocado, and a squeeze of lime juice.

Notes

For maximum flavor, marinate the steak overnight. Letting it rest before slicing helps keep the meat juicy.
