Cheesy Beef Sloppy Joe Garlic Bread

A decadent twist on the classic Sloppy Joe, served on crispy garlic bread and topped with melted cheese.

  • 1 French baguette or Italian loaf
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the baguette lengthwise and mix butter, garlic, and parsley in a bowl. Spread on the bread and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 5-7 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add ground beef. Cook until browned, then drain excess grease.
  5. Add onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  6. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Remove garlic bread from the oven and spoon the beef mixture onto the cut sides.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top.
  9. Bake for another 8-12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add more veggies or substitute ground beef with turkey or lentils for a healthier option.
