Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the orzo according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat until it’s shimmering and fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced chicken sausage to the skillet and cook until browned and crispy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and broccoli florets; sauté everything together until the broccoli is tender, around 3-4 minutes.
  5. Toss in the cooked orzo along with the Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and stir to combine.
  6. Serve the dish warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Don’t overcook the broccoli; it should be tender but still bright green. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
