A delightful and flavorful Chicken Shawarma Wrap bringing Middle Eastern street food into your kitchen with aromatic spices and creamy garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Flatbreads
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Thinly sliced red onion
  • Fresh parsley
  • Garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by combining cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, allspice, garlic, yogurt, olive oil, and lemon juice in a large bowl
  2. Marinate the chicken thighs in the mixture for at least 15 minutes at room temperature or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator
  3. Sear the marinated chicken in a hot skillet with olive oil for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until golden brown
  4. Rest the chicken on a cutting board for 3-5 minutes before slicing it thinly
  5. Warm the flatbreads over an open flame or in a skillet for 20-30 seconds per side
  6. Assemble the wraps by adding garlic sauce, sliced chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and parsley
  7. Wrap the flatbread tightly and serve immediately, optionally wrapped in parchment paper

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored separately in airtight containers in the fridge.
