A rich and moist chocolate cake enhanced with mayonnaise for a decadent twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the mayonnaise, water, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature. For longer storage, wrap slices in plastic and freeze for up to 3 months.
