Delicious churros that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with warm chocolate sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for coating)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and vegetable oil; bring to a boil.
  2. Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large saucepan to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Using a piping bag or a plastic bag with the corner cut off, pipe the dough into hot oil in 6-inch strips.
  7. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon; roll churros in this mixture.
  10. For the chocolate dip, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips in a bowl; stir until smooth.
  11. Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce.

Notes

Make sure the oil is hot enough before frying. For a healthier version, consider baking the churros instead of frying.
