A cozy and delightful classic apple pie made with sweet and tart apples, perfect for evoking memories and creating a warm atmosphere.

  • 6 to 8 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 package of refrigerated pie crust (or homemade pie crust)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Roll out your pie crust and gently press one crust into a pie dish.
  4. Fill the crust with the apple mixture, ensuring it’s heaping.
  5. Carefully cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges tightly.
  6. Brush the top crust with a beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 35 to 45 minutes.
  8. Allow the pie to cool before serving.

Notes

For added depth, mix tart and sweet apples. Consider using cold butter for an extra flaky crust.
