  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the egg, vanilla extract, and optional almond extract until smooth.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just mixed.
  6. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then roll in powdered sugar.

Notes

For softer cookies, avoid overbaking. You can freeze the dough before baking for later use.
