Delightful crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos filled with tender chicken and fresh slaw, served with a sweet and savory sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Wonton wrappers (square ones)
  • Pre-packaged coleslaw mix (shredded green cabbage, red cabbage, and carrots)
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Fresh ginger (minced)
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Rice wine vinegar
  • Sesame oil
  • Neutral oil (for frying, such as vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil)
  • Fresh chopped cilantro (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (toasted or plain, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken by poaching or boiling until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes. Shred into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Whip up the sauce by whisking together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil. Toss chicken in the sauce.
  3. Assemble the slaw, if using pre-packaged mix, open it or combine shredded cabbage and carrots with vinaigrette.
  4. Shape and fry or bake wonton shells. For frying, heat oil and fry until golden brown, about 30-60 seconds per side. For baking, preheat oven to 375°F, spray wontons with cooking spray, drape over wire rack, and bake until crispy, 5-8 minutes.
  5. Assemble by taking a crispy shell, adding saucy chicken, slaw, cilantro, and sesame seeds.
  6. Serve immediately to enjoy the crunchiness of the wontons!

Notes

Can swap chicken for shrimp or tofu for a vegetarian option. Garnish for better presentation.
