Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • Whipped cream (for garnish)
  • Caramel candies (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops before baking.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Drizzle caramel sauce between the layers and generously on top of the cake.
  10. Finish with whipped cream and scatter caramel candies on top before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature for creaming. Don’t open the oven door while baking to avoid sinking.
