Elevate the classic hot dog with a crispy, tortilla-wrapped twist that’s perfect for snacks, parties, or family dinners.

  • High-quality all-beef hot dogs
  • Medium-sized flour tortillas (about 8-10 inches)
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • Mexican blend cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water or milk (for egg wash, optional)
  • Olive oil or melted butter (optional for browning)
  • Finely diced raw red onion (optional)
  • Caramelized onions (optional)
  • Sliced fresh jalapeños (optional)
  • Pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • Crumble cooked beef bacon bits (optional)
  • Ketchup (optional)
  • Mustard (optional)
  • Non-alcoholic BBQ sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Warm the tortillas in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds if they aren’t pliable.
  3. Lay a tortilla flat on a clean surface and add sauces if desired.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese across the middle of the tortilla.
  5. Place a hot dog on top of the cheese.
  6. Fold one side of the tortilla over the hot dog, then the ends, and roll tightly.
  7. Whisk one egg with a tablespoon of water or milk, and brush over wrapped hot dogs.
  8. Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 12-18 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Carefully remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before serving.

Notes

These are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes.
