Delicious, golden, and crispy baked chicken legs that evoke nostalgia and are perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 chicken legs (drumsticks)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Fresh thyme sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Pat the chicken legs completely dry with paper towels – this is crucial for achieving crispy skin.
  3. Combine the dried thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Mix well to create your seasoning blend.
  4. Coat the chicken legs in a large bowl with olive oil, rubbing it all over each piece to coat evenly.
  5. Season the chicken legs generously with the seasoning blend, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Arrange the seasoned chicken legs on the prepared baking sheet with space between each piece for proper air circulation.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping midway. The chicken is done when the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove from the oven and let the chicken legs rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispiness, broil for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Leftover chicken legs can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
