  • 4 medium green tomatoes
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Slice the tomatoes into 1/4 inch slices.
  2. Soak the slices in buttermilk for at least 1 hour.
  3. Combine cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, and paprika in a shallow dish.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat, about 1/2 inch deep.
  5. Dredge each slice of tomato in the cornmeal mixture.
  6. Fry the tomato slices until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  7. Drain the fried tomatoes on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
