  • 4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 can (12 oz) Dr Pepper
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Buns for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pork shoulder by placing it in a slow cooker.
  2. Create the flavorful sauce by mixing together Dr Pepper, barbecue sauce, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork, ensuring it’s well-coated.
  4. Cover and cook the pork on low for 8-10 hours until tender.
  5. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it back into the sauce.
  6. Spoon the pulled pork onto buns and serve.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the pork in the sauce overnight before cooking. For a spicier kick, adjust the cayenne pepper to taste.
