A simple yet flavorful au jus sauce that enhances the richness of prime rib, made with beef broth and red wine.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary, optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the beef broth, red wine, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir well to mix the ingredients.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it reduce by about half, approximately 10-15 minutes.
  3. If you’d like a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with a little cold water to create a slurry and stir it into the sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste, adjusting according to your preference. Add fresh herbs for additional flavor if desired.
  5. Pour the luscious sauce over slices of prime rib and serve immediately.

Notes

For variations, consider adding balsamic vinegar or infusing the sauce with garlic or shallots. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
