Delicious homemade pizza pockets filled with melty cheese and savory toppings, perfect for a quick meal or snack.

Ingredients

  • Puff Pastry
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Beef Pepperoni
  • Cooked Ground Beef
  • Finely diced bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Black olives
  • Cooked and crumbled Italian sausage (beef or turkey)
  • Sautéed and squeezed dry spinach
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Egg Wash (1 egg with a splash of water or milk)
  • Optional Seasonings (Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your puff pastry by ensuring it is properly thawed but still cold.
  2. Cut the puff pastry sheet into even rectangles, usually two large rectangles per sheet.
  3. Layer about 1-2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on one half of each pastry rectangle, leaving a clean border.
  4. Add about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and your chosen fillings on top of the sauce.
  5. Fold the plain half of the puff pastry over the filling, align edges and seal them.
  6. Transfer the sealed hot pockets to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Whisk one egg with a tablespoon of water or milk and brush the tops of each hot pocket with the mixture.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 18-22 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, keep the puff pastry cold and avoid overfilling the pockets.
