Homemade burger buns that are soft, fluffy, and perfect for any burger.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and yeast in a bowl; let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the yeast mixture, milk, melted butter, and egg with the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
  4. Let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the buns by punching down the dough and dividing it into equal portions.
  6. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place the shaped buns on it.
  7. Let the buns rise again for another 30-45 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Add melted butter on top of the buns and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Cool before serving to enhance texture.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
