Deliciously delicate French crullers with a light airy texture and crispy glaze, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Boil water and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until combined and boiling.
  2. Mix in flour and salt, stirring vigorously until it forms a smooth dough.
  3. Incorporate eggs one at a time until the batter is smooth and shiny.
  4. Add vanilla extract and blend into the dough.
  5. Heat oil to 375°F (190°C) in a deep fryer or heavy pot.
  6. Pipe the batter into the hot oil to form doughnut shapes.
  7. Fry crullers for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, turning halfway.
  8. Drain crullers on paper towels after frying.
  9. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  10. Glaze warm crullers and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover crullers in an airtight container for up to two days.
