A delightful and easy French Toast Casserole that transforms lazy mornings into something magical.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably stale, such as challah or brioche)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter (for greasing)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the baking dish.
  3. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a mixing bowl until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently to ensure all the bread is soaked.
  5. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for improved flavor.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving, and drizzle with warm maple syrup.

Notes

Serve with fresh berries, whipped cream, or powdered sugar. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
