Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of potatoes
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Peel and mash the cooled potatoes until smooth.
  3. Combine the flour, egg, salt, and pepper with the mashed potatoes.
  4. Knead until smooth, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Shape the dough into ropes about half an inch thick.
  6. Cut the ropes into one-inch pieces and form ridges using a fork.
  7. Cook the gnocchi in boiling salted water until they float, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite sauce and optionally sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Use starchy potatoes for better texture and avoid over-adding flour to keep gnocchi light.
