Delicious butter bars with a melt-in-your-mouth crust and a sweet, salty caramel topping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and salt, mixing gently until just combined.
  4. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
  6. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the hot crust.
  7. Sprinkle sea salt over the caramel topping.
  8. Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares.
  9. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

These bars can be served warm with vanilla ice cream. Consider adding chopped nuts for added texture.
