Homemade Greek Chicken Gyros featuring juicy marinated chicken, crisp veggies, and tangy tzatziki sauce wrapped in warm pita bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in a mixture of olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken on a grill or pan until cooked through and slightly charred, about 6-7 minutes per side.
  3. Slice the chicken into thin strips after resting for a few minutes.
  4. Warm the pita bread on a grill or dry skillet for about 1 minute on each side.
  5. Assemble the gyro by placing sliced chicken on the warmed pita, adding tzatziki, and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
  6. Roll up the pita and enjoy your delicious Greek Chicken Gyro.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight. Experiment with different spices for added variety.
