A rich, creamy Ham and Potato Soup that’s comforting and satisfying, perfect for chilly days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cubed ham
  • 4 cups diced potatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the aromatic vegetables: In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, sliced carrots, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are tender and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  2. Combine the main ingredients: Stir in the cubed ham and diced potatoes. Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a boil, filling your kitchen with mouthwatering aromas.
  3. Let it simmer: Reduce the heat to low and allow the soup to simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Stir occasionally to keep the flavors melding beautifully.
  4. Cream it up: Add the milk to the pot, stirring gently. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and heat through for another 5 minutes, ensuring everything is deliciously warmed and inviting.
  5. Garnish & serve: Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot and watch your family’s faces light up with joy!

Notes

This soup pairs perfectly with crusty bread or fluffy biscuits. For longer storage, freeze the soup (leave out the milk until re-heating) for up to 3 months.
