- 1 angel food cake
- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup whipped cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the angel food cake according to package instructions or your favorite recipe. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Mix sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for about 15 minutes.
- Slice the cake in half horizontally.
- Spread a layer of the strawberries on the bottom half of the cake.
- Add a generous layer of whipped cream over the strawberries.
- Assemble the cake by placing the top half back on and spreading more whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with the remaining strawberries.
- Chill the assembled cake in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh strawberries and chill your whipped cream before whipping.
