Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls swirled with a rich cinnamon and brown sugar filling, perfect for cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl—flour, granulated sugar, active dry yeast, and salt until well combined.
  2. Warm the milk and melted butter in a saucepan until warm (not hot!), then whisk in the egg until fully combined.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick and spread softened butter over it.
  6. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then sprinkle over the buttered dough. Roll up the dough tightly into a log.
  7. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Mix the powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth and drizzle over the warm rolls.

Notes

For best results, make sure your milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast. Experiment with different icing flavors for a unique twist.
