Delight in the warm comfort of homemade cinnamon rolls, perfect for Sunday mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add the melted butter and eggs until everything is well combined.
  3. Create the dough by gradually adding flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  6. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Shape the rolls by rolling the dough tightly and cutting into 1-inch pieces.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Combine powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl to create icing and drizzle over the warm rolls before serving.

Notes

For a flavor boost, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon filling. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
