Ingredients

  • Optional: drippings from roasted meat

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Gradually whisk in the broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
  4. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add drippings if using, and mix well.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using homemade stock. Store leftover gravy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
