Delicious homemade hamburger buns that are soft, chewy, and perfect for any burger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Mix in the wet ingredients: Stir in milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Form the dough: Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  6. Shape the buns: Punch down the dough and divide it into 10 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a bun.
  7. Second rise: Place on greased baking sheets, cover, and let rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake until golden: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool and serve: Let cool on wire racks before serving.
