Soft, pillowy homemade naan that perfectly complements your favorite curries and stews.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Optional: garlic and herbs for flavor

Instructions

  1. Mix the sourdough discard, yogurt, and water until combined.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
  6. Shape the dough into equal portions and roll each into a flat circle.
  7. Cook each naan in a heated skillet for 1-2 minutes on each side until charred and cooked through.
  8. Brush with olive oil and serve warm.

Notes

For added flavor, incorporate fresh herbs or spices into the dough.
