Delightful cookies that marry the flavors of traditional crème brûlée with the comfort of freshly baked cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl, then blend into the wet mixture.
  5. Drop dollops of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  6. Flatten each cookie dough ball slightly and sprinkle a little granulated sugar on top.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden but centers remain soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Caramelize the sugar on top using a kitchen torch until golden and crispy.
  10. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

For a salted caramel twist, add a pinch of sea salt on top before torching. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
