  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • Thinly sliced fresh apples (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring the Chops to Life: Let pork chops come to room temperature for 30-45 minutes. Pat dry and season generously.
  2. Whisking Up Some Flavor: In a bowl, whisk together apple butter, apple cider vinegar, light brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, cinnamon, allspice, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Searing the Chops: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add seasoned pork chops, and sear for 3-5 minutes on each side.
  4. Aromatic Beginnings: Reduce heat to medium, add diced onion, and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  5. Pour the broth into the skillet, scraping to incorporate flavors, and let it simmer.
  6. A Glaze to Remember: Pour the apple butter mixture into the skillet, simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Nestle the Chops: Return pork chops to the skillet, spoon glaze over them, and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  8. Time to Rest: Remove chops from skillet, tent with foil, and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Serve it Up: Plate the chops and spoon the apple butter glaze over the top, garnishing with fresh parsley or sliced apples.

Notes

For best results, allow pork to rest after cooking and use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
