Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 1 cup radishes, sliced (optional)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/2 cup cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup nuts or seeds, toasted

Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak by whisking together olive oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, honey, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the dressing by mixing olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, honey, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Wash and dry the salad greens. Prepare the cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and radishes. Slice or cube the avocado just before serving.
  4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (450-500°F / 230-260°C). Clean and oil the grill grates.
  5. Grill the steak for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare. Use a thermometer to check for doneness (130-135°F / 54-57°C).
  6. Rest the steak for 8-10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Assemble the salad base with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and radishes.
  8. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
  9. Build the salad by arranging the steak over the greens and adding avocado, cheese, herbs, and toasted nuts/seeds. Drizzle with the dressing.
  10. Serve immediately while the steak is warm.

Notes

For best results, marinate the steak for 2-4 hours, and allow it to rest after grilling to ensure juiciness.
