Soft and fluffy homemade hot dog buns perfect for any BBQ gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Prepare the dry ingredients by combining flour and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Create the dough mixture by adding the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes on a floured surface until smooth.
  5. Let it rise in a greased bowl covered for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Shape the buns by punching down the risen dough, dividing it into equal portions, and shaping each into a bun.
  8. Second rise by placing the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and letting them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool before using.

Notes

For best results, ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast effectively.
