A rich, flavorful marinara sauce made with simple ingredients, perfect for any pasta dish or as a zesty dip.

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Combine the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, and dried basil in the saucepan, stirring together.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve hot over your favorite pasta and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
