  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce mixture by mixing soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the flank steak in the skillet until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and optional red pepper flakes; cook for another minute.
  5. Combine the sauce mixture with the beef and stir until thickened.
  6. Finish with chopped green onions, stirring for 30 seconds.
  7. Serve the Mongolian beef over cooked rice.

Notes

For best results, slice the flank steak against the grain and avoid overcrowding the pan while cooking.
