A colorful and nostalgic cake featuring layers of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, perfect for celebrations and creating memories.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups softened unsalted butter
  • 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup strawberry puree
  • For Vanilla Frosting: 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • For Chocolate Frosting: 1 cup softened unsalted butter, 4 cups powdered sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder; set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into three bowls, adding strawberry puree to one and cocoa powder to another if desired.
  7. Pour each batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Cool the cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
  9. Make the vanilla frosting by combining butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Prepare the chocolate frosting with butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, and vanilla until creamy.
  11. Level the cake layers with a knife for even stacking.
  12. Assemble the cake with layers of frosting in between and on the outside.
  13. Decorate with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings.

Notes

Ensure butter is at room temperature for better creaming. Use a toothpick to check for cake doneness.
