Tender and flavorful pulled pork sandwiches made easy with a slow cooker, topped with tangy barbecue sauce and served on soft hamburger buns.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the pork shoulder generously with salt and pepper to enhance all those rich flavors.
  2. Place the sliced onion in the bottom of your slow cooker, creating a flavor-packed bed for the pork.
  3. Carefully add the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the sliced onions—it’s the perfect foundation for deliciousness.
  4. Pour the chicken broth and barbecue sauce over the pork, letting the vibrant flavors mingle beautifully.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low, cooking for 8 hours or until the meat is tender enough to shred easily.
  6. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it into luscious, bite-sized pieces.
  7. Return the shredded pork back to the slow cooker, mixing it well with all the flavorful sauce. Now, serve it up on hamburger buns, and if you’re feeling extra fancy, top it off with a bit of coleslaw for that perfect crunchy contrast.

Notes

Try different barbecue sauces and seasonings for your preferred flavor profile. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for up to three months.
